As members of two established bands Cream of the Barley and Calico, they bring together an energetic performance of traditional and contemporary Celtic music guaranteed to get your feet tapping.

New to this years festival and capturing the essence of a vintage past, The Night And Days are an accomplished close harmony jazz group that draws from the wealth of experience group leader, Tracey Carmen has amassed over the years and combines it with the youthful exuberance of the twins, Katherine and Carmel Reynolds and Sam Heller to give emotionally engaging live performances that they take up and down the UK, playing various events and festivals.

Sunday – 10.30am – John O’Connell
Co-founder of the much celebrated Liverpool band Groundpig, John O’Connell has had his name indelibly written into the tapestry of the Liverpool Music Scene. John’s seemingly endless repertoire covers a variety of genres: including Acoustic, Bluegrass, Contemporary, Country, Folk, and Popular. This eclectic mix of songs and the precision of his delivery simply entertains and captivates audiences from across the generations making John the first choice at many events including here at the annual Liverpool Food and Drink Festival where his finale set is legendary! John also performs a classical guitar recital at the two Liverpool Cathedrals each month and is currently enjoying nationwide success with his Simply Dylan Band who will be performing their biggest gig to date at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall this August.
James Meall
A helicopter pilot and self-taught musician Jimmy has performed alongside John O’Connell over recent years including at his local residencies but also at more prestigious venues such as The Troubadour, The Lowry, Sefton Palm House and the Oran Mor. Playing the bass guitar and singing his favourite Jam songs Jimmy has a popular following and his faultless and consistent delivery on the bass makes him the ideal musician to accompany John with his ever changing set list!
12pm – The Jessie Janes Band
The Jesse Janes are a funky-folk and Bluegrass Girl Power Band hailing from Tyrone, Bristol and Kent. They roam the Liverpool circuit frequently playing lively, sassy and often unexpected little dittys, heavily laden with 3 part harmonies, sweet mandolin licks and groovy guitar riffs (played by their long suffering guitarist Dr. Treva Goldup!) The gals are Kate Mc Cusker on vocals, mandolin, whistle and guitar. Mary Rose Mc Cusker on Vocals and percussion and Helen Seymour on bass guitar, kick drum and vocals. They cover various artists like Clapton, Dan Tymimski, Dolly, Cash, The Killers, Daft Punk, Stevie Nicks and MGMT to name a few and audiences from all over the North West, Ireland and beyond come back to hear them again and again to savour their unique blend and twists on the floor filling tunes they select!

Paul Catharell
Paul was Groundpig’s original bass player who performed with the band until the late eighties. Having worked alongside other musicians from the city writing and recording his own original songs Paul is currently working with Simply Dylan having now completed two UK Tours with the band.
Rachel Jones
A graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music Rachel Jones plays the viola for the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Manchester Camerata who recently took Gastonbury’s Pyramid Stage by storm with their Hacidena Classical recital.
Kenny O’Connell
Award winning song writer and musician Kenny O’Connell is known locally for his Pool of Life band that performed at many great venues locally and further afield including the famous Marquee in London. Kenny will be taking a break from his Ball of Fire Play for the Food Festival where he will be playing the intricate chords of the mandolin.
Kath Ord
A mutli-talented musician Kath Ord, who masterfully swaps between the saxophone, vocals and violin, also graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music. She has performed across the country with many established artists including The Unthanks who won the 2016 Best Live Performance at the BBC Folk Awards. Kath will be joining The Unthanks once again this summer for their Canadian Tour.
